Pregnancy Tip #1

I’ve been pregnant every year for the last four years, so I wanted to share some prego tips for my fellow prego sisters.  

Now, I have to first say….with my first baby, I did every thing I could to go by the book and it was awesome.  After that, I fell off the boat.  I’m now pregnant with #4 and I really see the difference of caring for yourself vs. not caring for yourself during pregnancy.  

So, with that being said, here’s my first tip to you:

Pregnancy Tip 1 -

Eat a Hearty Breakfast!!!!!  

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but especially for pregnant moms.  Now, not just any breakfast will do….I mean a good nutritious breakfast.  One that consists of oats, grains, nuts, fruits, good carbs, etc.  A good breakfast provides you with the energy you need to start the day.  

Now, I have to admit, I don’t always eat the best breakfast since I have 3 little ones to care for, but I see how much damage I do to myself when I don’t eat good.  Usually by lunch time, I’m so worn out and drained, I can’t function for the rest of the day.  

Does this mean you can’t have coffee in the morning???

Absolutely NOT!!! 

You don’t even want to know what I look like if I haven’t had my coffee.  Coffee makes me happy!  So yes, you can have coffee, just make sure it is in moderation.  If you have a cup of coffee, make sure it is after you have eaten your breakfast or eat about 20 minutes after drinking.  

But I have a hard time eating breakfast….

I’ve heard this a lot from women and I totally understand.  The thing is now you have a little one growing inside of you that needs you to eat.  So, if you have a tough time, make a smoothie.  I love making smoothies when I’m in a rush.  Look up different recipes of different smoothies that will give you what you need for energy and nutrition.

    Thanks for sharing! I’m not a prego mama but I’ve been prego 3 times before and I couldn’t agree more. Having breakfast even now when my girls are grown is vital! I learned how to properly care for my body and health through food.
    Smoothies are definitely my choice. I put all the good stuff my body needs for fueling my engine for the day. It works!!
    This is good info! Ladies your body and baby will thank you now and later!

    Here is a quick recipe for my favorite smoothie. Enjoy!
    1/2 cup Kale
    1/2 banana
    1/3 cup of 100% pineapple juice
    1 activia yogurt (berries)
    1 tsp chia seeds
    1/3 cup of frozen berries (I love blueberries)

    Put all the ingredients in a #NutriBullet or blender and mix until is all blend. Enjoy a full cup of this power smoothie and tackle your day with new strenght.
